Subject Teacher Forum (STF) Maths, Science and Social Science - District Level Training

The Subject Teacher Forum is an in-service teacher training programme for high school teachers in ICT Phase I and Phase II schools.

The objectives of the Subject Teacher Forum programme are to:

• Leverage technology to build teacher professional networks tat will evolve into a new model of teacher education

• Build a resource rich environment and have a repository where teaching learningresources are curated and maintained

• Prepare the teacher to integrate ICTs into teaching-learning

• Support the inclusion of ICTs into the curriculum and syllabus

Trained in several public software platforms and applications, the STF-trained teachers are better prepared to integrate ICTs into the classroom and are able to realise more constructive teaching-learning processes. Teachers are also contacting one another through the virtual email forum for sharing resources. As part of the training programme, open educational resources have been created on .  During 2011-12, 15 districts were covered and over 1500 teachers were trained in mathematics, science and social sciences.

This is the second year of the Subject Teacher Forum (STF) training programme. Maths, Science and Social Science district level training has begun in 19 districts in Karnataka on September 25th 2012. Teachers from ICT Phase1 and Phase 2 high schools in the following districts are participating : Bagalkote, Bangalore, Bellary, Bijapur, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikmagalur, Gadag, Gulbarga, Hassan, Haveri, Kolar, Mandya, Raichur, Ramanagara, Shimoga and Udupi.

In addition to mathematics, science and social science, English teachers will also be trained as part of the STF programme in the 15 districts that were included in the STF programme during the year 2011-12.
